Following the successful U.S. debut in September and October Looking at the Stars returned to Lithuanian prisons and stages in November.
The series of 3 prison and 2 public concerts featured a sensational (1st prison) performance of F. Chopin’s piano concerto No.2 at Pravieniskiu prison by our featured artist Canadian pianist Tony Yike Yang and a string ensemble, consisting of 15 musicians from Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra led by concertmaster Rasa Vosyliute.
An acclaimed Lithuanian tenor Rafailas Karpis and distinguished Pianist Darius Mažintas returned to Marijampole prison. Hon. Jeanette Sautner, an Ambassador of Canada to Lithuania has honoured this event with her presence.
Distinguished Lithuanian violinist Rasa Vosyliute and a well known Lithuanian cellist Ona Svabauskaite delivered a chamber program to the audience of Panevezio women’s prison. The prison concert hall was packed with over 100 women and… men, residing in the half way house nearby.
Tony Yang has also performed on two public stages – in Vilnius (Organum Piano Gallery) and in Jonava (Cultural Centre)
Two fellow Canadians – our supporters – Andrew Cumming and Julie Hughes joined this Lithuanian tour adding very special meaning to each of thecevents.
