I had the pleasure of attending Looking at the Stars‘ recent fundraising event at St. Paul’s Bloor Street to celebrate the Foundation’s return to support for Canada’s Long-term Care community. It was an intimate evening that included past patrons, new faces, and a special presentation by the irrepressible Roberto Martella, founder of the iconic Italian restaurant, Grano. His heart-warming commentary was very much appreciated.
The Silent Auction presented a fascinating collection of Canadian artists’ paintings, along with a great offering of excellent wines, and several gift certificates for some premium restaurants.
Of particular interest was the engaging Q&A that followed the amazing classical music performances of the evening by the accomplished quartet, including Jonathan Crow, Joseph Johnson, Barry Shiffman, and Joonghun Cho. Their spirited and engaging performances of Brahms, Heifetz/Gershwin, Fauer, Debussy, and others were exemplary! The audience’s questions of, and comments to the musicians at the end of the evening were thoughtful and the musicians’ responses heartfelt and personal.
As long-time patron, Mr. Andrew Cumming, said at the event, “It was a poignant evening.”
I expect another similar event in the Autumn season. I encourage you to consider attending the next Looking at the Stars fundraising event. The Foundation’s work relies on supporters like you!
